He questioned if the world would come to an end if the President John Dramani Mahama had not appointed, signed contracts and increased salaries of some government workers.

Speaking with Kwame Adinkrah, host of Abusua Nkommo on Abusua FM, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central constituency, said there was no point in rushing to make appointments.

‘Indeed portion of the Constitution needs to be reviewed, because it gives room for people to operate anyhow, but we just have to be prudent in our dealings, outgoing government just has to be discreet in decision making and ask itself if its actions will affect the incoming government or not. Why the need to rush into taking these decisions. We the minority and majority in Parliament are not enemies so what stops a Minister from communicating with members of incoming government that there are contracts unattended to for the betterment of the country,’ he pointed out.

According to him, the outgoing government’s actions creates suspicion of corruption adding that it would have been prudent for the government to desist from making appointments.

Mr Agyemang-Manu submitted that the country’s Constitution be reviewed suggesting that the country should take a cue from the Australian Constitution where the outgoing government is barred from making appointments or signing major contracts months to the elections.

‘We are appealing to the conscience of the outgoing President Mahama to act prudently in his dealings,’ he called.
