Asamoah Gyan Unhappy with 50% Bonus Cut Plans Ahead of 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifiers

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has condemned reported plans by the Sports Ministry to reduce match bonuses of the Black Stars ahead of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers with Comoros. The Shanghai SIPG star and the highest paid African footballer is upset with plans to slash bonuses of Black Stars players ahead of the World Cup qualifiers with Comoros
Reports are rife in the local media that the authorities will communicate to the team that bonuses have been scrapped by 50 per cent.
“To tell you the truth I am quite upset with this,” Gyan told Montie FM. “I think it is an issue against personalities. We as footballers should also be considered as workers and after a hard day’s work, one needs to get paid.
“I don’t think when I hang up my boots and fall sick I will go into the offices of a minister and say because I played for the national team he should give me money to take care of my medical expenses.
“We are not slaves so such things cannot be enforced in the manner in which I hear it is being enforced,” he added.
Ghana will lock horns with Comoros on November 13 in the first leg at the Stade Said Mohamed Cheikh before hosting Les Coelecantes at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the return encounter four days later.
AccraReport.com understands that Ghana delegation will travel to Comoros with a chartered flight from Accra on November 12 and return right after the game for the return fixture in Kumasi on November 17.
