“During the elections, there may be places where people will be causing trouble. Therefore, all those entrusted with security have to be professional in their work. They have to be non-partisan,” the Bishop said.

Bishop Osei-Bonsu spoke to Joy News in his peace message to Ghanaians ahead of the 2016 polls.

He admonished the security agencies to uphold professionalism noting, “certainly you will belong to party A, B or C. But when you put the uniform on, you must be seen to be non-partisan”.

President of the Catholic Bishops Conference condemned the act of “machomen” going around, harassing people during elections and therefore asked the police to deal with all those “macho” people no matter which party they belong to.

But before the elections would even commence, the two major political parties in the country, NPP and NDC are at each other’s throat, causing mayhem in Odododiodoo and Nima in the Accra metropolis.

Just yesterday, NDC and NPP supporters clashed at the Nima residence of the NPP Presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo where bodyguards of the Nana Akufo-Addo reportedly fired warning shots in a bid to ward of NDC attackers
