Amma Asante’s new movie ‘A United Kingdom’ will premiere in the United States of America today. She spoke to Charlie Rose about what makes the movie unique and more.
A United Kingdom is based on the true story of Botswana’s first president, Seretse Khama, who fell in love with a London office worker, Ruth Williams, who became the First Lady of Botswana.
The star studded cast of the movie includes David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, Tom Felton, Jack Davenport, Abena Ayivor, Vusi Kunene and Terry Pheto.
It was shot in London and Botswana.
The movie opened the 60th BFI London Film Festival in October, a first time for a black woman Filmmaker. It also screened at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
