Vice President K. B. Amissah-Arthur is in Marrakech, Morocco for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Dubbed COP-22, the conference has the task of drawing up the first steps on enhanced finance and technology transfer, which is vital to advance the Paris Agreement that came into effect on November 4.
The Paris Agreement aims at strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping the global temperature rise this century well below two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
Top on the agenda are high-level discussions on several issues relating to agriculture, food security, energy, industry, transport and water.
Representatives from 196 countries including world leaders, government delegations and civil society groups are in attendance.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur will present Ghana’s statement to the plenary session and also hold a number of side meetings.
Mr Amissah-Arthur is accompanied by the Minister for Environsment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr Mahama Ayariga; Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Emmanuel Bombande and National Security Advisor, Alhaji Baba Kamara.
