The International relations expert was reacting to comments by the president when he delivered a speech at the 27th Africa-France Summit held in Bamako, Mali.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo in his speech called on governments from the other African countries to focus on job creation in their respective countries if they want the economy in the continent to grow.

The 30 Heads of Government who participated in the summit committed themselves towards ensuring that economic growth in their respective countries would lead to a more ‘’inclusive economy’’, which will create jobs for the youth in the coming years.

Prof. Boateng indicated that the call made by the president was in the right direction however, he will closely be monitored by his counterparts and observers on how best he can create jobs for the unemployed in Ghana. He charged the media to hold the government accountable to the promises made in the lead up to the 2016 general polls.

In 2016, Nana Akufo-Addo said, the growth of the national economy and the creation of jobs will be the twin goals of his government if he wins the polls.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, his government, will put in place a “systematic, focused effort to restructure the Ghanaian economy – to take it out from just being a raw material producing economy, to an economy that is based on value addition, industrial activity and wealth creation.”

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5fm, Prof. Kwame Agyenim Boateng insisted that, the policies of the NPP should be regularly scrutinized to ensure they deliver as promised.

Unemployment he decried is a global problem and has challenged government to stay committed by collaborating with the private sector, reduce nuisance taxes as promised so more investors will invest in the country.
