President John Mahama at the start of his tour of the Western Region in August boasted of “unprecedented” infrastructural development under his government.

The president specifically mentioned water, power, education, healthcare, and roads as the areas that have witnessed massive infrastructural development in the last four years of governance.

Earlier in June this year at the 24th anniversary of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Mahama said, “…notwithstanding the challenges of a lower-middle income economy in an area of global economic volatility, we have still striven to ensure massive infrastructural development”.

But the former New Patriotic Party presidential hopeful Alan John Kyerematen said every government in the history of Ghana has executed infrastructural development during its reign.

“Every government builds roads, hospitals, schools, dams etc so what’s the plenty touting of developmental projects? Our record in infrastructural development is second to none,” he said Addressing NPP supporters in the Saboba District of the Northern Region, Mr Kyerematen dared the NDC government to mention any government that assumed the reign of Ghana without undertaking infrastructural development.

According to him, the NDC has no legacy for Ghanaians, hence its continuous touting of infrastructural development, with no message of employment. “Has the National Democratic Congress Party stated anywhere in their campaign that they will create jobs aside touting their infrastructural development?”, he questioned.

He thus urged the people to vote the NPP into power to solve the unemployment situation, saying “ for you the unemployed person, your government is the New Patriotic Party because it is only us that have plans to create jobs for you”.

Mr Kyerematen said the NPP’s policy on one dam in one community is a job creation project that would be the catalyst for irrigation farming in the various communities. He therefore encouraged the electorates to vote Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party into power to witness an upsurge in employment.
