Akufo-Addo in the run up to the just ended 2016 presidential and parliamentary polls, pledged to reimburse the victims of the DKM scandal.

“I’ll pay you back in full when I become president,” said the presidential nominee of the NPP at the party’s mini rally in the Brong Ahafo region.

“I will investigate government’s inability to pay the tier two pension monies as well as investigate the DKM scandal and to ensure that there would be total restoration to all affected in both scandals,” he added.

Following his electoral victory last week, the aggrieved customers of DKM urged the president-elect to ensure they are refunded, warning it would be chaotic should he renege on his campaign pledge.

The spokesperson of some of the customers in Tamale, Mohammed Ibn Issaka, in an interview with Citi FM stated that they are hopeful the president-elect will adhere to his promise.

“…We just want to remind him of the promises he gave us. In fact Nana Addo received massive endorsement from most of the DKM customers in the country. He was voted for because of the promise he gave us. We only have the hope that he will be able to fulfill his promises and not fail us,’’ said Ibn Issaka.

Akufo-Addo on Friday 9 December, 2016 was pronounced as president-elect by the Electoral Commission.

He polled 5,716,026 votes representing 53.85% in the 2016 elections to give him an edge over the ruling National Democratic Congress leader Mahama, who garnered 4,713,277 votes representing 44.40% of the total votes.
