Akufo-Addo Inherited Difficult Economy From Mahama

Bawumia said that although Akufo-Addo inherited difficult economy from former president Mahama, his administration will deliver on their promises.

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was speaking at a Durbar of Zongo chiefs and Imams at Fadama in Accra. The event which was organised by the Chief Imam was held in honour of Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday.

Dr. Bawumia said that the new  Nana Addo-led administration has since taking over powers, noticed that the economy left behind by the Mahama-led government is not an easy but very difficult one.

However, Bawumia assured his audience that although Akufo-Addo inherited difficult economy from former president Mahama, his administration will deliver on all the promises they made to Ghanaians.

…We said that when by the grace of Allah we get into government, we will undertake a number of policies and by the grace of God we have gotten into government; we have looked at the economic situation, it is not an easy one, it is a very difficult one. But by the grace of Allah, we intend to keep all the promises that we made to the people of Ghana.

Continuing, the Vice president pointed out that the new administration really means business and is seriously working towards achieving the major goal for which they were elected by the people of Ghana, which is; transforming the economy.

Speaking further, Bawumia promised that the government will soon create a Zongo Development Fund. According to him, it will be included in the projects to be executed within the first quarter of the year, precisely in March. Pointing out the importance of the fund to Muslims and other people living in the Zongo communities, Dr Bawumia said the government will work in consultation with chiefs, imams, and opinion leaders to make sure the fund is properly utilized to meet the needs of the Zongos.
