The Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Brogya Genfi alleged that the President was chauffeur-driven in his new bought cars during his tour in the region over the weekend with new number plates.

He said the President is just throwing dust in the eyes of the public by instructing his appointees not to buy new cars saying the cars have already been bought.

But speaking with sit-in host Austine Wood on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo, Mr Arhin explained that the car was the President’s own car used during the electioneering.

He questioned if the car used during his visit were embossed with ‘coat of arms’ in front of it calling on the public to disregard the rumour.

‘The cars used by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his three-day visit to the region over the weekend are his personal cars. No number plate has been changed. This car in question and another one are not part of the pool of cars at the presidency,’ he explained.

Asked why the President does not use official vehicle, he said ‘National Security has not certified the State cars we met in government, the cars are not fit for a purpose. According to them, the official cars for the president do not meet security feature requirements and that they are working on them. Until then, the President will use his personal cars which have security features we are satisfied with, the vehicles are strong, and there is no problem with the cars at all’.
