Akufo-Addo Complicit In Attacks On State Institutions

Kwame Jantuah has taken President Akufo-Addo to the cleaners for what he termed as his “deafening silence” on recent attacks on government institutions by sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking on Joy FM on Saturday, the senior member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) said, the president’s quietness on the matter has heightened tensions and spurred the offenders on.

Mr Jantuah added that he is heavily disappointed in the president as his action has the tendency of jeopardizing the peace and stability of the nation.

“The president has to show leadership by speaking to the attacks. I believe a public address on the matter will discourage the culprits, so he shouldn’t leave it in the hands of his spokespersons.

“We all know that whenever the president speaks it carries more weight than his spokesmen, so it is high time he came public himself. And I want to say he is complicit in these attacks,” Mr Kwame Jantuah stressed.

There have been reported cases of seizure and take-over of public facilities and state installations by some youth of the New Patriotic Party?(NPP) in parts of the country.

Some of the youth were said to have invaded government institutions, including the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), the Passport Offices and Tollbooths and ransacked those institutions in addition to attacking state officers.

At the Ablekuma sub-metro, the NPP supporters locked the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) office and threatened to assault workers if they do not vacate the premises.

They also forced city guards out of their office leaving only the Environmental Health Officers on the premises.
