“We must make sure that particularly we can look beyond that short-term solution to our energy challenges. This time around what we are saying is that we need to go beyond what we have been doing in the past whereby almost every seven years we fail  with this energy challenge,” President of the AGI, James Asare Adjei told .

He further said the energy minister must ensure tariff charges are reduced as a reduction will render them competitive on the markets.

“It will help the country to really achieve energy sufficiency and of course don’t let us forget that we are serious about ensuring that we can get energy tariffs coming down as well, long term that’s a key thing.” he appealed.

The Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko earlier pledged to address challenges facing the country’s power sector when he appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee.

James Asare Adjei believes implementing a strategic plan will guarantee a boost in their businesses.

“So we are going to engage the energy minister such that the medium to long-term strategic energy plan which has been set up for the country will be implemented.”

The Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko earlier announced an ambitious plan by the NPP government to reduce the taxes on the energy sector even as it initiates plans to address challenges facing the country’s power sector.

As a result, the government stated that it will revise the energy sector levies.

Mr. Agyarko who believes the power challenges facing the country are largely financial is also optimistic the new plan by the NPP should create a more flexible system to deal with the matter.
