Ready for inauguration

Those ready for inauguration are the Agric Nzema Day SHS in the Ashanti Region and the Agona East Nemonwora Day SHS in the Central Region.

Finishing touches

The Deputy Minister in charge of Tertiary Education, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who spoke to the Daily Graphic, said the remaining 30 would be ready to admit students by next month.

He said the remaining 30 schools were at the finishing points, some of which were left with painting, installation of fittings, tiling and external works.

Mr Ablakwa explained that nine out of the 30 would be ready for inauguration by Friday, September 30, while the remaining 21 would be completed by the end of October.

Facilities

He explained that the 42 were made up of both the World Bank-funded ones and the ones by the government of Ghana.

Mr Ablakwa added that while those being financed by the World Bank loan covered the E-Block, Gate house, three-bedroom headmaster’s bungalow with a two-bedroom boys’ quarters, an eight-unit two-bedroom teachers’ flats and a multi-purpose canteen, those by the government of Ghana would be in two phases, where the first phase would cover the E-Block and the second phase would take care of the remaining facilities.

The 24-classroom E-block houses a science laboratory, a library and a computer laboratory, offices for the head teacher and heads of departments, as well as a teachers’ common room.
