He told chiefs and people of Elubo in the Western Region his track record of achievement in the first four years has been impregnable and needed another term to finish the good works he has started.

Four years is not enough for any president, he stated, adding, the framers of the constitution were well aware of that and therefore gave an option for a second term for sitting presidents.

He said on the evidence of the things his government has done in the first four years, a second term is a matter of necessity.

The president officially began his 2016 campaign in the Western Region where a durbar was organised in his honour by the chiefs and people of Elubo.

Joy News’ Western Region correspondent, Kwaku Owusu Peprah who followed the president, reported the whole of Elubo was drenched in the colours of the NDC when the president arrived.

He said the president was given a rousing welcome by the chiefs and people who were quick to make demands of the president.

According to the residents, the Tano river which serves as a major source of water supply for the people is being polluted by galamsey operators.

They wanted the president to, as a matter of urgency, address that problem.

They also spoke vehemently about the poor nature of the roads in the area and hoped the president will fix them.

They asked the president to put pressure on a contractor they said had been delaying a key road project in the area.

According to Peprah the president distributed outboard motors to some fisher folk in the area in order to facilitate their work.

The president in a response to the demands of the chiefs and residents said his government will complete the main Agona Nkwanta Elubo road which is already under construction.

He said his government will also continue to provide competent leadership in the second term by building on the foundation it started in the first term.

The president is expected to visit the people of Aboadze also in the Western Region, tomorrow before going to Tweneboah Enyera Ntome (TEN) Field where oil is expected to be pumped in commercial quantities next week.
