We Are Still In Contention — Wa All Stars Coach

Wa All Stars Coach, Enos Adipah, has given the assurance that they are not out of contention as the defending league champions despite losing 1-4 to WAFA in front of their fans at the dreaded Wa park last Sunday.

He admits that Wa All Stars are currently confronted with some challenges due to a number of injuries to about six key players of the club but believes the technical team is putting the pieces together for the team to peak.

“Currently, the club is bedevilled with a lot of injuries to about six key players, including Richard Arthur, another regular defender, and Ishaku Konda, who are all key players, compelling the technical team to try and raise a team with fairly new and back-up players”.

The situation, according to Coach Adipah, is more or less like building a new team all together, but he stressed that with time and with the recovery of the injured players, All Stars will bounce back strongly.

Speaking exclusively to the Graphic Sports on the shocking 1-4 loss to WAFA in their outstanding Premier League match played at the Wa Park last Sunday, the hardworking coach said as a result of the injuries, he was compelled to field a team with some unexpected pairings.

He said the team lacked cohesion and telepathy and consistently fumbled even though throughout the match they played better.

“The loss to WAFA is a big blow to us but you know in football a lot of factors go into it. Last season when we won the league we lost close to nine matches and so we are still in contention although this season looks highly competitive”, he explained.

He expressed the hope that the team would do well after taking part in the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) competition.

Coach Adipah, however, expressed skepticism about travel fatigue, which is likely to have a toll on the team after travelling to and from the WAFU tournament, but was confident that an improved Wa All Stars side would be ready to face league leaders Aduana Stars upon their return from the WAFU tourney.
