Supporters Plead For Muntari

A section of Ghanaian soccer fans are calling on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to initiate moves aimed at recalling sacked Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Ali Muntari to the team.

This, the group insists, would go a long to improve the fortunes of the team which appears to be struggling for form, with their fate uncertain as far as qualification to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia was concerned.

Muntari was handed a ban together with Kevin Prince Boateng by the Justice Dzamefe Commission that delved into matters relating to Ghana’s participation in the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Boateng was sacked from the team’s camp just like Muntari who had an altercation with a member of the Black Stars Management Committee (Moses Parker) but has since apologised officially to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the member.

Led by Mr. Abraham Nkansah, Chairman of the Die Hard Supporters Union, the group argued that the team’s fortune in the World Cup qualifiers could be revived when Sulley and other experienced players in the team are invited.

Popularly referred to as ‘Apiurugu Charkaparma’, Mr. Nkansah said the presence of Muntari and Boateng would bring competition into the team and subsequently improve performance.

”Currently, there is no competition in the team. It appears positions are guaranteed for players and that has affected our performance. We need these guys to provide competition in the team; that is the only way we can recover our form.”

“Having rendered unqualified apologies to Ghanaians, we the supporters of Ghana football are convinced that when Muntari is invited, it will give the team an edge, especially the midfield which currently lack finesse and elegance.

Mr. Nkansah called on the FA legal team to identify the legal barriers that will hinder his invitation and find ways to seek redress.

“The player has shown remorse and is willing to rejoin his colleagues to take Ghana to the next World Cup. The onus now lies on the FA and the player’s legal team to get him cleared to be invited.”
