Former Bechem United and Medeama coach Tom Strand has revealed his ambition to manage a big club in the country again and that he recently spoke with the top hierarchy of Medeama before arriving in the country.

Strand earlier spent three years in Ghana, guiding the Yellow and Mauve to clinch the FA Cup in 2015 as well as playing a crucial role when the club reached the Caf Confederations Cup group stage.

However, the 36-year-old had issues with club owner Moses Armah Parker and went AWOL (Absent without official leave), leaving his hotel in South Africa, after the Yellow and Mauves’ 3-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Caf Confed Cup in May 2016.

He was spotted at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when Kotoko defeated Bechem 1-0 on Wednesday.

“I’m back to Ghana to coach again. I need new opportunities and believes everything will be perfect here once more,” Strand told Goal.

“I’m in talks with several big clubs and will join one. Even if it is not now I will join a club very soon because I still have lots of unfinished business here. I’m close to finalising a deal with Medeama because my works in Tarkwa were outstanding although I had issues with them. Everyone is bound to have issues with his employers but it is how you resolve it that is important.

“They know what I enjoy and what gets me angry. Ghana has been a wonderful place for me and my family and would love to work here again even if it is not with Medeama. I won the FA Cup during my first spell but this time I want to win the league trophy,” he added.

Goal understands that Great Olympics and Tema Youth are in talks with the Swedish trainer as following their slow start to the season.
