He said the Board, whose primary role is to advise, will have his fullest cooperation to work towards the fulfilment of the vision of the President Akufo-Addo in Youth and Sports sector.

Mr Asiamah made this statement during the inauguration of a nine-member Advisory Board for the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) last week.

The membership of the Ministerial Advisory Board, as provided for in Section 39(2) of the Civil Service Act, is as follows: Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah (Chairman), Mr Pius Enam Hadzide (Vice-Chairman) and Mr Frank Quist (Member/Secretary).

The rest include representatives from both public and private sector organisations. They are: Mr Eric Kwaku Owusu-Donkor (Assist. Auditor – General), Miss Esther Offei-Aboagye (Public Sector Mgt. Expert), Mr. Patrick Nomo (Chief Director, Ministry of Finance), Nana Amampene Boateng Twum II (Academia), Dr Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah (Sports Consultant) and Sophia Kokor (Lawyer).

The Advisory Board will have the responsibility of promoting constant interaction between the Ministry and the users of its services and advise the Sector Minister on adjustment in policy direction, planning objectives and operational strategies.

They will also have to ensure harmonious relationship with stakeholders at all times to promote fruitful partnerships in the pursuit of sector goals and objectives.

The Board would also be engaged in key issues, such as, provision of adequate and disability friendly infrastructure for sports in communities and schools and strengthen national capacity for sports management.

They will have to support the development of lesser-funded sports while ensuring integration of youth concerns into national development planning processes and programmes.

Additionally, the Board will ensure the provision of adequate training and skills development for the youth in line with global trends.
