Acting Liberty Professionals Head Coach, Ignatius Osei Fosu, says the club can cope without last season’s talismanic striker Latif Blessing, in this season’s league campaign.
Latif Blessing finished as last season’s top scorer with 17 goals and 5 assists and was very instrumental in Liberty’s league survival.
Liberty lost their opening league game of the 2016/2017 Ghana premier league season against Kumasi Asante Kotoko by 2-1, despite taking the lead in the first half.
Coach Osei Fosu says the club will not miss Latif Blessing, and has identified new signing Ernest Papa Arko as a perfect replacement for Blessing, who joined MLS club Sporting Kansa City during the transfer window.
“We lost Latif Blessing, but we have the shape of Papa Arko, and anybody who knows Papa Arko knows his pedigree.”
“You all saw today that he is not up to the tempo but he played 90 minutes.”
“So we don’t miss Latif Blessing a bit, and it’s not going to change our mentality.”
“Our mentality is to win all our games, and that’s what we are going in for,” he added.
Liberty will be hoping to register their first win of the league campaign when they welcome Inter Allies next week at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.
