Inter Allies deputy coach Wilson Asare has lamented on his side’s poor finishing in their MTN FA Cup round of 64 loss to Liberty Professionals on Saturday.
The La-based side were impressive for the large part of the game but failed to bury the numerous chances that came their way before going on to lose the tie in the penalty shootout.
And Asare, who took charge of the team in the absence of the suspended coach Prince Owusu believes their profligacy in front of goal was their bane in the encounter.
“We had a good game and I believe we should have carried the day but it’s just unfortunate that the game went to penalties and for me personally, when we got to the shootout I knew it’s anybody’s game,” Asare told reporters.
He added, “We should have won the game in regulation time because we created more chances than our opponents but sometimes football is so crazy and you just have to live with it.”
“Inexperience was the cause of our inability to win this game today because whenever we had the ball in our opponents vital area, the boys did not keep their composure and it’s something we’ve been practicing to improve upon in training, however, overall I think we played tactically better than them but they have won so they are the best on the day,” he concluded.
Inter Allies will hope to bounce back when they play Elmina Sharks in week 13 of the Ghana Premier League in midweek.
