Ghana’s Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga Worried by Massive Player Exodus from Ghana Premier League

Ghana’s Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga says he is concerned by the massive exodus of players from the Premier League.
The Minister made this observation during the inaugural Premier League awards ceremony since the takeover of First Capital Plus Bank as headline sponsors.
Ghanaian players have been forced to seek greener pastures in various parts of the world – in particular countries not noted for their football – primarily due to the poor conditions of services offered in the Ghanaian top flight.
While some have profited immensely from the exodus which ends up enriching the clubs, others – especially some of the most talented Ghanaian players – in their haste to cash in on their domestic stardom, end up moving to foreign leagues that eventually prove inimical to their progress.
And this worrying trend has caught the attention of the state.
“Some of these concerns are the massive exodus of players from our local league,” Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga said at the awards ceremony held on Saturday.
“With players going to countries such as India and Bangladesh.
“We need to create a strong safety net to help solve these problems.”
