Aduana Stars, who lifted last season’s Ghana Premier League title will kick-start their CAF Champions League campaign with a trip to Egypt to face Libyan side Al Tahaddy in the first leg of the preliminary round on Saturday while Asante Kotoko will welcome Congolese side CARA Brazzaville to the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first stage on Sunday.

However, the two clubs will go into their respective second leg ties in a fortnight time without playing any competitive game after the Ghana Premier League, which was supposed to commence this weekend, was indefinitely called off following a court injunction by Great Olympics last Monday.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM 100.7, Konadu believes the inability of the two clubs to play competitive games could affect their performance in their respective Africa competitions.

“To some extent I agree with those who assert that failure to play league matches would affect our teams especially for match fitness and did the team play any top notch friendly in place of the league because looking at what’s happening to our league, you can’t rely on it but also, I can’t tell whether they are prepared or not”
