Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda says he is not worried after coach Avram Grant left him out of the Black Stars’ 26-man provisional squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 31-year-old signed for Nigerian side Enyimba International last month and took part in the national team’s non-residential camping last week but Grant opted for Razak Brimah, Adam Larsen Kwarasey and Richard Ofori.
“I am not disappointed after Avram Grant chose other goalkeepers over me. All the goalkeepers in the team deserve to be there. We are all good goalkeeper and I wish the team the best and hope they bring back the title,” Fatau told Success FM.
“We missed the trophy two years ago, so I hope they win it this time around for the country since we’re yet to lift it in over three decades. None of the current crop of players was alive when Ghana won the trophy so it’s their turn to also make history,” he added.
The tournament kicks off in a fortnight in Gabon, with the Black Stars facing Egypt, Uganda and Mali in Group D.
The Black Stars are currently in Dubai to fine tune for 12 more days, with Ghana FA set to submit the final list of 23 to Caf on Wednesday.
