‘Dangerous’ Nduom Stadium Remains ‘unlocked’ Weeks After Brutal Fans Attack On Referee

The Nduom stadium shockingly remains ‘unlocked’ almost two weeks after irate Elmina Sharks fans horrifically attacked a referee during an ill-tempered clash against Medeama, to make practical nonsense of talks of fighting hooliganism in the local game.

The slow pace of taken severe action against the Fearsome Sharks to send a strong signal to the arch-destroyers of the game has irked many football fans in the West African nation.

Violence erupted at the end of the first half after irate Elmina Sharks fans brutally attacked referee Nuhu Liman Yakubu – leading to the abrupt end of the match at the Nduom stadium.

Sharks attempted to cover up for the barbaric act by claiming the Wa-based referee ‘tripped and fell’

But they were exposed after sickening images showed he was clearly hit by thugs and goons – leading to the match officials refusal to continue with the match.

Referee Liman was rushed to the hospital after the brutal and inhumane attack but in a spectacular fashion, the Ghana FA appear to have turned a deaf ear in taking a serious and definite action against the Premier League side for failing to control their supporters.

The FA moved swiftly to hand a three-home match ban on Berekum Chelsea after the same referee Liman was manhandled during a league match against Dreams FC but appear to have shockingly gone silent on the more sickening attack this time around.

The Disciplinary committee chairman Prosper Harrison Addo has claimed he’s unaware of the protest and counter protest filed by the two clubs to expedite action.

The slow pace of adjudicating disciplinary issues have been cited as one of the major reasons crippling football in Ghana.

Elmina Sharks beat Techiman Eleven Wonders 1-0 at their home ground last week- to ignite controversy in the country.

The extraordinary incident is believed to have happened in the full glare of the Match Commissioner and other match officials.

Critics have argued nepotism, cronyism, injustice amongst others have accounted for the perceived mistrust at the federation.

Medeama want the law to be applied without fear or favour, demanding maximum points while Sharks are pushing for a re-play of the match.
