The Ghanaian saved the Foxes’ blushes on Saturday, heading home on 88 minutes to make it 2-2 in the Premier League clash with Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.

Claudio Ranieri’s men, who were reduced to 10 in the 28th minute following the sending off of Jamie Vardy, had gone 2-0 down by half-time.

“Everyone is delighted. We needed a goal and I got it, so everybody is happy,” Amartey told LCFC TV.

“I’m very happy to score and the team needed it. I went straight to the fans because at 2-0 down, they were still singing. It was good to go and celebrate with them.

“When we went in at half-time, Claudio [Ranieri] talked to us and Kasper [Schmeichel] talked to us and we all talked to each other.

“We said we have to come back and fight together to get two goals.

“It’s hard to play with 11 men and when you are short of one player it’s very difficult, but we came back and we were disciplined.”

Leicester, who next play Everton, sit 15th on the log after matchday 17.

Amartey joined the side from Danish giants Kobenhavn in January, making five appearances as the team lifted the league title for the first time in May.

The 21-year-old, who previously played for Djurgarden in Sweden and Ghanaian outfit Inter Allies, boasts of 14 topflight outings to his name this season.

He could spend about six weeks away on international duty at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations which runs between January 14 and February 5.
