The Ghanaian joined the Men in Red in 2015, and having won back-to back Most Valuable Player of the Season accolades, he has become a top transfer target for a host of European clubs.

Fire have made several attempts to tie the winger down to a long term deal, but after refusing all overtures, the 26-year-old has set his sights on leaving on a high.

“I have to be honest to myself I’m not a goal scorer or striker who scores a lot of goals, but I bring a lot to the team,” Accam told ESPN.

“Everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve really left a mark there – every team I’ve played at.

“For me, since I came here, I don’t think I’ve really left a mark here in these last two years.

“People call that failure, and that’s not what I want people to remember me as.

“I want people to remember me as someone who had done something for this club, someone who’d helped them make the playoffs or win an MLS Cup.

“To be honest, I have this year to do that.”

Accam has been a long transfer target of French Ligue 1 outfit Nantes, whom he came close to joining in the recent transfer window in January.

He has also been linked to English outfit Stoke City, with whom he trained in 2015.

The Accra-born netted 10 times in 24 league appearances of his first year in Major League Soccer and nine goals in the same number of matches last season.

He moved to Fire from Swedish side Helsingborgs, after an earlier stint with Ostersunds.

The Men in Red are set to open the 2017 MLS season against Columbus Crew on March 4.
