The John Mahama-led administration has been criticized numerous times by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for borrowing huge sums of money and inflating cost of projects all in the name of infrastructural development which the government has often denied.

Speaking to a cross section of tertiary students at the Tamale Polytechnic as he wrapped up his four-day campaign tour of the Northern Region, the Vice President indicated that the agenda of putting people first with the right facilities is the manifestation of a government that identifies with its people.

He further explained that the commitment and investment government has made in the infrastructural sector indicates that President John Mahama in his second term will prioritize so many programmes including tertiary education and make them more grounded.

“We will never finish developing this country but at each point we must have a plan,” he told the students.

“We must have a plan, we must have a priority and as I said in 2009 the priority was to remove the schools under trees which we have done”.

He added: “Now our priority is to ensure that the continuing sector, the tertiary sector particularly, is also put on a good footing so that they can produce the material that goes to teach those at the lower level”.

The Vice President and his team were later given a rousing welcome by supporters and traders at the newly constructed Aboabo market in Tamale.

He charged the market women to replicate government’s intervention by voting massively for the President and the NDC.
