A statement issued by Secretary-General Numo Tettey Amanor on Wednesday expressed worry at events leading up to the December 7 elections.

It lamented how some Ga-Dangme chiefs defied long-held traditions to openly endorse some presidential candidates.

It advised such chiefs to desist from the act in the future as they are expected to be neutral.

Some Ga-Dangmes came out strong against Nana Akufo-Addo for wild rumours he had plans to transfer the country’s capital from Accra to Kyebi, his hometown.

The rumours were dispelled by the New Patriotic Party candidate.

The Ga-Dangme Fͻmͻbii Akpee-Ayawaso Akutsei was apologetic about the turn of events prior to the elections.

“We therefore call on all Ga-Dangmes to put away all the differences and division the election campaigns might have caused among us but rather unite to assist the president-elect as well as the incoming government to succeed in their vision of transforming Ghana as a better place for all Ghanaians.

“We want to reiterate our respect to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the humility he displayed as he went about his campaign and the alacrity with which he addressed concerns raised by Ghanaians from all sections of the country but most especially those of the Ga-Dangme people.

“This assures and gives us confidence that he is going to be a listening president and father for all when he assumes office.

“We hope under his able leadership, space for national dialogue will be open for all Ghanaians including organizations such ours.”

The statement promised the prayers and support of the tribe in seeing Ghana develop under Nana Akufo-Addo.
