John Boadu Backtracks On Doctored Handing Over Notes Claims

Barely a day after stating categorically that the government Transitional Team is forging handing over notes, acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, has made a U-turn.

The NPP stalwart indicated at a news briefing Thursday that members of the outgoing government have altered their handing over notes.

“The constitution is clear on when the hand over notes should be submitted. So there must not be any buts and ifs. If the Chairman of the NDC is mindful of the constitution, he should advise his ministers to stop doctoring the hand over notes,” he had claimed.

When host of 3FM Sunrise show, Winston Amoah on Friday put it to him that he was watched on TV3 stating that handing over notes had been doctored, John Boadu backtracked and retraced his position.

“I’m saying that it is in clear violation of the law, the law has been violated; obviously because as we speak now certain ministries have not submitted. But what was the rationale behind the law mandating ministries to deposit handing over notes one clear month before the general elections?”

Meanwhile, in a sharp reaction, Spokesperson for the government’s transition team, Hanna Tetteh has questioned John Boadu’s authority to speak on behalf of the NPP transition team.

“The acting General Secretary is not a member of the transition Team; he is not the spokesperson of the transitional team. At the last meeting of the transitional team, what we said after we’d handed over the hand over notes for eight ministries was that we discussed whether we should tend in the hand over notes as they came in or put them together.

“We agreed mutually that everything that had not been handed over was going to be handed over at the next meeting on Monday. There was nothing secret about that, it was an agreement that was arrived at by both parties and so I do not know where this insinuation is coming from”.
