The visit was to assure the new president of Ghana Police Service’s support and security as he prepares to take the reins on January 7.

In his address on Monday, December 12, IGP Kudalor said he was there together with the top hierarchy of the Service “to assure you as a police institution that we are not going to flinch in our responsibility to the government of the day come 7th January”.

He added: “We shall continue to be professional, very transparent, very patriotic and loyal to the state and for that matter the government of the day.”

He underscored the security of the president-elect, pointing out how swift the Service dispatched security personnel immediately after he was declared the winner of the December 7 polls.

He wanted to know whether the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was happy with the arrangements so far.

In appreciating the visit by the top brass of the Service, President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo said he was confident the relationship between the Service and his party while in opposition will continue.

He said while a former Foreign Minister, he enjoyed the reputation of the Service at the international level given its services in international peacekeeping.

He said that reputation must be translated to the local front.

“We have to work together to enhance the security of our people that they live in an orderly and peaceful environment.”

He also assured of adequate equipment of the Service to merit its international reputation.
