The Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has reiterated the need for the youth to desist from acts that could threaten the peace, security and unity in the country, especially during and after the December 7 general elections.

Speaking at Tanoso South during a campaign tour of the Brong Ahafo Region,  he said it doesn’t pay for any individual or group of persons to compromise the serenity and cohesion being enjoyed in the country.

The Chief of Staff indicated that democracy is not warfare but an opportunity for people to speak their minds on pertinent issues in the country, thus the need to stay peaceful and united for a progressive course.

“As we have come to see you sing, clap and energized, it’s healthy. I am the President’s Chief of Staff, when I wake up in the morning I don’t go the President’s house to say let me enjoy the food that your wife had prepared.

The same way when you in this area and you follow a political party and you engage in violence and got yourself maimed , you couldn’t go to the party in future and say, I was the one who was maimed with a knife so give me food to eat,” Mr Debrah said.

He thus pleaded with the chiefs and people of Tonoso South to allow brotherly love to prevail at all times to pave the way for progress and development.

Mr Debrah noted President John Mahama has a lot of plans for the people of the Brong Ahafo region hence it will be suicidal for any of the people to plunge the area into chaos, saying , “if that happens development in the area would stall”.

He added: “The president who happens to be your in law is a honest and credible man who has the country’s forward march at heart, and will do anything to fulfill the social contract he has signed with you”.

He advised that “if they provoke you ignore them and let them take their fight to the bush to fight the elephant, the umbrella family doesn’t fight for political expediency.”

The Chief of Staff  is in the Brong Ahafo region in the company of other leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign team:  Madam Faustina Nelson, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi and Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakye.

They have visited Chiraa, Bonsakro and other communities in the week-long tour urging the chiefs and people to vote massively for President Jon Mahama and the aspiring members of parliament in the region to guarantee accelerated development.

He indicated that it was important for the chiefs and people to demonstrate their love for the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama,  who is a native of the area,  by voting massively for President Mahama, to enable him double up the socio-economic development of the area.
