The Court presided over by Justice Barbara Ward Acquah also ordered that any action and acts of intimidation including police arrest be stopped pending the determination of the applications that was filed by counsel for the teachers  Francis-Xavier Sosu.

The teachers are expected to go back to their respective posts and continue working at MEGHIS until the court determines their application.

The plaintiffs are all teachers of the Methodist Girls Senior High School, and the 1st Defendant is Ms. Sylvia Laryea, the Headmistress of Methodist Girls Senior High School. The Ghana Education Service and the Attorney General are 2nd and 3rd defendants respectively.

In the substantive matter, the plaintiffs are seeking a declaration that the way the first defendant treats them amounts to abuse of power and abuse of office.

They are also praying the court to restrain the defendants from carrying out any acts of intimidation against them for holding the Headmistress, who is in charge of their teacher’s fund, accountable.

The case was adjourned to 29th November, 2016.

Also pending before the court is an application by the Attorney General to set aside the writ and statements of claims filed by the teachers on 5th August, 2016.

According to the AG, the plaintiffs did not give appropriate notice to the Attorney General and have also not exhausted internal remedies within the Ghana Education Service.

The defendants were represented by Emily Addo-Okyireh (Mrs).
