Emmanuel Agyemang Badu admits it is high time the Black Stars fought harder to win the African Cup of Nations trophy.
Ghana came close in 2010 and in 2015 only to lose to Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.
The 25-year-old Udinese midfielder, who played in the 2015 final, believes the Stars can go a step further and lift the trophy in Gabon.
The Stars began preparation on Wednesday at the St. Thomas Aquinas School Park ahead of the AFCON in front of a small crowd and Badu believes the atmosphere looks good for massive support for the team when they play in Gabon.
“I am really overwhelmed with the support we have gotten so far. This is the first time in a while that I have seen so many people here and I think gradually the support is coming back,” he said.
The Black Stars have lacked support over the past few years mainly due to calls about being money-grabbing men and unpatriotic but Badu says the change he has seen on the training grounds mean the support will be huge when the tournament begins in January.
“I will like to thank the fans immensely for coming out and I want to assure them that we will be up to the task in January,” he continued.
“We will like to thank the fans for their support, we know we have the quality to sail through and come next year we will.”
