Known for his deep sense of satire in his lyrics, controversial Ghanaian musician, Kwame A-Plus, has laughed off suggestions that the newly commissioned Ho Aerodrome is indeed an airport.
In a Facebook post Friday night, A-Plus who has been critical of the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress government, described the airport as “Air-kiosk”
His description of the Airport as “Air-kiosk” stems from the temporary use of what looks like a shipping container as the Air Traffic Control Station at the Airport, the first phase of which was commissioned Friday by President Mahama.
He posted two pictures – the container and the uncompleted terminal building- with the caption: “Today President Mahama commissioned the Ho airkiosk, ei sorry…. Ho Airport”.
He ended the post with aeroplane emoticons as well as clapping hands to somewhat indicate a good job done by the President.
The President in September 2015 cut sod for work to begin on the 25 million-dollar Ho Aerodrome project being funded by the Ghana Airport Company Limited. President Mahama Friday landed his helicopter at the airport to signify the completion of the first phase of the project, the runway. It also marked the beginning of the next phase.
Expected to be ready by first quarter of 2017, the second phase will include the terminal building, which the President said would pave the way for commercial flights to use the airport.
It would include residential apartments, hotels health and conference centres and entertainment facilities.
