If you are genetically born incompetent, clueless, corrupt and a joke, you shall forever remain so. These are the characteristics of the outgoing Ghana President John Dramani Mahama who Ghanaians will joyfully in the belief of giving him a good riddance from the presidency bid him adieu on 7 January 2017.
President Mahama right from the way he selected his Government and Deputy Ministers, Directors of public corporations and filled all the most important and political positions in tribally nepotistic manner, nonchalant about putting wobbling round pegs in square holes as long as the appointees were from his Northern and Ewe extractions, is a failure and a complete joke by my estimation and comprehension.
Now that he is in transitory, handing over the reins of government to incoming President Nana Akufo Addo and his NPP government in less than seven days’ time, he, still as clueless and myopic a politician as he is, believes that he has the right to make and confirm certain vital and strategic political appointments before he exits power on 7 January 2017. His main aim for doing that is to sabotage Nana Akufo Addo, makes his government hard to function to the expected and much touted admiration of the Ghanaian public.
Why on earth should he increase allowances of certain workers by 60% to take effect from January 2017 knowing he would not be in charge to effect such payment increases? Why again is he recruiting and confirming appointments of new recruits? Why did he not recruit them for the past few years but only to do so when he is leaving power in a matter of days?
His actions are only the traits of a fool and a saboteur. He will not be taken serious. I do not believe in tit for tat and recriminations but rather in positive discriminations when it comes to recruiting people into the public sector services. His government saw only northerners and Ewes filling all the most important and other public sector jobs. The late President Mills on assumption of power sacked all the security personnel recruited into the army and the police force one and a half years before the end of President Kufuor’s term in office.
As it was in those days, so shall it be today and tomorrow. There must be positive discrimination in job recruitments into the public sector to ensure regional and tribal balance.
All the stupid recruitments, confirmation of higher political and sensitive-area appointments like the Auditor General going to a Ewe and other such appointments MUST be revoked to prove how silly President Mahama has been with such rushed and ill-intended appointments.
Any reasonable and serious president on his way out of power would leave such appointments to his successor.
The corruption and lack of wisdom and intelligence on the part of the outgoing President Mahama know no bounds! Mahama is a goner for good. He will be remembered by me for his brazen acts of corruption and encouragement of lawlessness and institutional corruption. He is a complete and unprecedented failure in the history of Ghana’s politics. He perpetuated institutional tribalism. His disgraceful defeat serves him right, a waste of space in the political arena!
