He who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, including the people of His inheritance — the Lord Almighty is His name. Amen (Jeremiah 51: 19)
Sometimes we forget the awesome greatness of our God, and compare Him with man or even lesser gods. But this is where you will argue and disagree with the above fact because you will never consciously even attempt such a comparison.
Yes! That may be true. Yet every time you have been afraid of lesser gods, every time you have refused to release man from your bitterness because they hurt you, every time you would revenge rather than leave vengeance to the Lord; you are invariably either placing lesser gods, the other persons who hurt you, or yourself in the position of God. Almost as if either these lesser gods, those who hurt you, or yourself who wouldn’t let go of the bitterness, can handle the situation better than God.
However, you know that is never possible. The God we serve is greater than all of those mentioned above, including you especially me. He is the Almighty God! “He made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.
When He thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from His storehouses.” (vv 15-16). Nothing stands in His way.
“Everyone is senseless and without knowledge; every goldsmith is shamed by his idols. The images or opinion we makes are a fraud; they have no breath in them. They are worthless, the objects of mockery; when their judgment comes, they will perish.
However, He who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, including the people of His inheritance— the Lord Almighty is His name.” (vv 17- 19). Hence we must strive towards having Him as our portion, fullness and life even if we fail many times if He still gives us life.
So the next time anyone threatens your life, or does the worse evil against you, tell yourself that the Lord is your portion and He’s not like them. He is the Maker of all things including the people of His inheritance. He will not suffer your foot to be moved. He who keeps Israel never slumbers nor sleeps. You shall never be put to shame.
It’s a new week in the first month of a new year. Commit all that concern you to the Lord in prayer. Trust in His ability to deliver, and depend on Him for guidance. His name is the Lord Almighty and He has never failed those who trust in Him. Receive Him as your portion today.
Yes your sins may be like smelly odour He is not like those lesser gods you used to fear, neither is He like those men who believe they wield the power to suppress you. He is the Almighty God; you will never fail in Jesus mighty name!
A devotion prayer I was sent this morning and the Holy Bible says Stephen smiled whilst he was yet being stoned to death. Your situation may not be worse than that of Stephen yet he trusted Jesus Christ and smiled. SHALOM.
I share this not as though I am sinless, or I have everything going well for me or have multiple wealth , not because I have not offended anyone, not because I have reached perfection but stride towards the “goal Jesus Christ” no matter the circumstances or men’s judgement. Because the One before whom I keep falling and trusted has His site over me and faithful, I can cry like Isaiah and David did.
He has kept me in Him and Him in me despite my many mistakes/accidents, it is because I do often take my eyes off the steer. Pray for me oh fervent children of God. Shalom.
