Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu was the main political character as NDC launched its campaign on 8th October, 2016 at Gambaga. It was unprecedented in the political history of the Constituency . It was a ground-breaking event I would never forget. All activities including farming, trading and everything came to a stance still.

Some of the main speakers of the launch included Alhaji Mohammed Muniru, Minister for Agriculture; Alhaji Inusah Fusheini, Minister for Roads, Works and Housing and Dr. Tia Alfred Sugri, Deputy Minister for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation.

Alhaji Baba has become a household name in the political history of Mamprugu. He is the people’s man and he will always continue to be the people’s man. His message to the people was to change the political landscape of Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency. Provision of good drinking water, extension of electricity, construction of roads, better health care facilities, scholarships to students, better educational facilities and agricultural inputs and equipment for our farmers are some of his political agenda for better Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency. Loans for women, empowerment and employment opportunities for all are also part of his political plans.

Of course the candidates who contested in the primaries with Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu were heavily present. They were Mr. Sam Salifu Danse, Honorable Imoro Adam and Mr. Ibrahim Tia. These are seasoned politicians who have helped and would continue their unabated support to the parliamentary candidate of the NDC for Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency.

The speeches of the candidates who contested the primaries were very encouraging and welcomed by the heavyweights of the party. Their speeches centered on one thing: winning both the presidential and the parliamentary elections. They also made it very crystal clear that they would support Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu with all their hearts.

Another major thing that happened on that day was when over 300 NPP supporters defected to NDC from about six villages. These defectors or if you like “defectees” (not an English word) were welcomed by NDC national executives. NDC is the party to join if you have not made any decision yet. If you are in NPP and you are not comfortable, just give me call and you shall be welcomed in NDC.

Gambaga was full of mountain of people as at early morning on that day . They were dotted all over the community. It went further to show the support Gambaga Community has for the NDC, the party for the people.

NDC has the greatest chance of winning both the presidential and parliamentary elections in December 7. The reasons for my arguments are not far fetched.

One of the greatest political tool at the moment in the constituency is unity. The forefront politicians are more united than ever. This will make it easier for NDC to ride over the NPP. What the NPP has is what I call unity under duress.

The second reason that will account for the success of the NDC is that, the parliamentary candidate of the NDC is very much resourceful. Let my critics quote me well. What I want to put across is that, Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu is well connected to people, institutions and organizations that can resource him with all what he needs to develop the kingdom of Mamprugu particularly Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency. Even if worth is part of the political formula, it will not elude Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu. I refer to him as the political torchbearer in history-in-the-making in Mamprugu. We have seen it all as he assumed the position of a parliamentary candidate for our constituency. He drilled over ten boreholes, provided a poly tank for the National Health Insurance Authority at Gambaga, lobbied to join seven communities to the national grid and many more. I will make another time to write about the achievements of the people’s man.

The performance of the NDC government is a success story for all in the constituency to see and appreciate. This has given the NDC an upper hand over the NPP in the Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency . The building of two gigantic GetFund Assembly Halls in the constituency -one in Nalerigu Senior High School and the other in Gambaga Girls Senior High School. The government has built a training college at Gambaga to train would-be teachers and redeem education in the constituency. The tarring of all major roads in Nalerigu Township is an achievement to talk about. We can also talk about the Bongbini-Walewale Road. The stretch from Bongbini-Yaroyiri is complete already. Credit to the NDC Government! Construction of a number of bridges across the length and breadth of the constituency to connect and create inter-community relationship. We are most grateful to the NDC government for these unprecedented achievements in Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency. In fact, the achievements of NDC government are endless. This is what Alhaji Baba will use to compliment his own achievements in order to win the 2016 general elections.

The tangent at which the Npp as a party meets their targets will cause a political disaster for them in the constituency. Anybody who does not support NPP is either seen to be their enemy or a traitor of Mamprugu. This is particularly strong when you criticize Alhaji Dr. Bawumia Muhammad. This clearly shows how politically impatient and intolerant some of the NPP supporters are in the constituency. I must say this can’t stop some of us from constructively criticizing the NPP in the constituency. What a hell is this ?

So many people including me have been attacked for criticizing the NPP. One message I have for the NPP is that they should respect their opponents and they would not be criticized badly. This kind of behavior coming from the NPP will hit them and damage them politically beyond repairs in the constituency.

I have the conviction that NDC is the only party that can develop Mamprugu. They have done it before. They are doing it again and they will do more in Mamprugu once we renew their mandate for another four years. With Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu in the forefront, the deal is done.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank the good people of Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency for the massive support they have given to Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu and the NDC Party. We will gladly advance the Better Ghana Agenda to cover every part of the country.

Yes, we can with your support.
