11 Beautiful Signs Your Relationship Is Perfect

An Interesting Travel Experience Through The Eyes Of Amarachi, A Travel Blogger

I am highly fascinated by the fact that the urge to ink few thoughts to you has materialised. As I sit behind my writing table now, stuffing the bird-feather down the belly of an ink bottle, I am just a little bit as angry as a virgin on her nuptial night.

Quickly, I shall move to the matter of concern to me. Saviour, it is no news that the fortnight after the death of the first moon of every year is celebrated or should I say abused? While trying to finish the previous sentence, Nana Budu whispered something to me. I am not so sure of what I heard but I think he was asking me not to be so cruel to humanity. His message is upheld.

But saviour, there is one question that has been lingering on my mind for long. Could you please help me answer the question? Even before you say yes/no of which I am sure you shall choose the former knowing how much you love getting in bed with arguments, I will just go ahead and ask the question. What is the whole Valentine thing about? Is it a boxing event? A type of game? Is it a visa to the land of virginity loss? What at all is it? Please help me out because I’m obviously at sea.

Saviour, I quite remember somewhere last year, it was exactly a year after the previous valentine day. My very good friend, Ama was lured into the game of bedroom cycling. I wasn’t there my brother but I heard it. Yes, she was happy enough to tell me with some amount of regret painted on her face. It was sunset of that cursed day. She had been invited by Nii Emmanuel, her lover boy. You know, I’ve had issues with my memory lately so I can’t actually recollect the venue but it was a pub. One of the finest in town. I was actually beginning to figure out how Emma got that kind of money, knowing very well that he was still a student and his parents were just as rich as my poor parents who feed once daily. Well, that wouldn’t bother me so much. After all, our elders say “It is the wall nearest to you that you lean against”. That wall was definitely far from me so I didn’t bother thinking about it. Now, back to the matter. After the drinking, the dancing, the twisting, the twerking and all the ‘ings’, Ama had obviously had a drop too many. To one of the First class rooms at the pub, she was taken by Emma. Well, as of the time she told me the entirety of this, she had confided in me that it was a wonderful experience albeit a little bit painful initially. She smiled while she said it. But it didn’t take long before her smile metamorphosed into a smirk or was it a frown? Well, some of us are not so comfortable with English words so don’t be surprised I can’t find the right word to use here. ‘I am not so sure he used Condom oo….hmmmm’ she said. I was just a sitting statue when she said that. ‘He doesn’t even seem interested in the topic when I raise it. And that is the most annoying thing. I am really scared now cox I don’t know if he went raw’ she said again. When she realised I had lost interest in the conversation, she took a French leave.

Saviour, it was barely a full moon after I had met Ama when I heard she was carrying Emma’s seed. Quite expectedly, only his footsteps were seen. And that was the result my dear Ama got from writing an examination on 14th February, 2016. Well, you know her mother very well. That woman is so upright a Christian woman that she wouldn’t allow an abortion. She encouraged Ama to keep the ‘thing’ inside her after few days of scolding. Indeed, blood is thicker than water. A mother’s love is always great; be what the situation may. It was barely a month to the end of the year when the news of her delivery came through like bush fire. She was eighteen at the time.

Saviour, I know the story above must have moved you. I shall not be surprised if your reply indicates that you shed tears while reading this. Well, I know you are good at shedding crocodile tears but I believe this once, you would have wept naturally. My brother, it is said that “when a man sees his neighbour’s beard on fire, he ought to fetch a bucket of water beside his”. I foresee my own sister, Akosua falling into the same trap that caught Ama. I have spoken to her for long but I think an outside voice would add more seasoning to the soup. Saviour, what advice would you give to my sister and the many other young girls out there pending this year’s Valentine Day?

I hope to read from you soon, my sage brother. My question however still remains: Why Valentine?

Enjoy your weekend and please don’t forget to inform the fairest lady you meet at church on Sunday that there is an important message I have been directed to deliver to her.
