CHRAJ intervened in the controversy that emanated from series of corruption claims by musician A-Plus against two presidential staffers Abu Jinapor and Asenso-Boakye.

In September, A-Plus took to Facebook to make vague allegations against President Nana Akufo-Addo’s two Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye and Abu Jinapor.

While addressing members of his party at their annual National Delegates Conference in Cape Coast on Saturday, President Nana Addo gave the security agencies a directive to investigate any official within his administration who will be accused of corruption.

Kwame A Plus while commending the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after the conference, lodged a verbal attack of the two deputy chiefs of staff appointed by President Nana Addo describing them as corrupt officials who are scheming to swindle the country.

It later emerged that the accusations had to do with the two putting pressure on the CEO of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Felix Anyah, to give back an on-site revenue-collection contract at the hospital to UniBank after the same contract had been terminated.

These claims led to an outburst between Asenso and A-Plus; causing an uproar in the media and consequently drawing the attention of CHRAJ and other stakeholders.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had investigated the matter and exonerated the two.

CID’s investigations which found  found the allegations baseless, was subsequently marred by some controversy after an audio recording said to be a leaked recording of a conversation between the then-Deputy Director of the CID, ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and A-Plus, in which the police officer was heard advising A-Plus to deny the allegations because is a member of the NPP.

CHRAJ was later petitioned by a group calling itself the Dynamic Youth Movement of Ghana to further investigate the matter.

From its findings, CHRAJ has concluded that the evidence does not support the allegations of corruption and abuse of power against Messrs A. Jinapor and Asenso Boakye.

Following the findings, CHRAJ dismissed the claims as being without merit and totally unwarranted.
