The Black Stars will welcome the Pharaohs of Egypt to the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday as they hope to end to their disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign on a high.

However, opinion polls have shown high disregard among Ghanaians for the upcoming Ghana vs Egypt clash. This is because the Black Stars have fluffed their lines earlier in the campaign to end their hopes of a fourth consecutive World Cup appearance.

But the captain of the team Gyan has said that the Black Stars will not take the game against Egypt lightly because the team ought to win for the nation. The team he said is no longer playing for the World Cup but for pride.

Asides from the qualifier, Ghana he said has to win for the nation and also has to boost the FIFA ranking position. Ghana’s victory over Egypt in the coming clash will also prove that the Black Stars have become more competitive.

Asamoah Gyan who is returning to the side after missing the last two games in the qualifiers through injury reportedly sustained another injury during the team’s second day of training at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

According to reports, the 31-year-old who pulled out of training may not be part of the squad to face Egypt on Sunday. He will undergo a scan today, Thursday to see the extent of the thigh injury he suffered.

Gyan has urged Cape Coast fans to offer massive support to the team to record a victory over the North Africans. More so, the Black Stars captain said that the upcoming clash will be the first time the team playing in front of the Cape Coast.

New players like Nasiru Mohammed and Nana Ampomah have been included in the team and Gyan believes those new players will as well need to prove themselves on Sunday.
