The former Vice Chairman of NDC, Huudu Yahaya has advised the NDC members not to mimick the party’s opponent.
Huudu Yahaya said that seeking to please the opponents of the party has made the party lost focus and gone away from their core beliefs. This according to him was as a result of the opponents saying the NDC were not democratic even after their peaceful congress in 1992.
Speaking at the NDC’s 25th anniversary panel discussion in Accra today, Huudu Yahaya advised members to look at the history, culture and objectives of the party which sets it apart from the others. He added that the party should not try to impress opponent but exhibit how democratic the party is.
He charged the party to maintain the structures and not be distracted as the members seek to build, grow and progress the party. “The party will need to increase mentorship with regards to the young ones who are coming up who may not have lived the situation” he added.
He further encouraged the party leaders to mentor the young ones and pull them along else the tendency of them taking their own way will be high because every child always thinks he can do better than his father.
The former vice chairman also appealed for the revival of the political workshop of the party which has being a thing of the past for the party now.
“During the cadre period up to our early days in the party, the issue of political work shops were taken very seriously and I will like to appeal that we should deeply do this the more in the party especially as younger ones who have not lived or gone the path of those before us” he said.
He further stimulated members to have confidence in each other while they act transparently to each other else opponents will go through the NDC. As a revolution party, Huudu Yahaya mentioned that trust, solidarity, camaraderie and comradeship are very important.
