Samsung on Sunday launched two of its newest smartphones – Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus – with the electronic conglomerate promising exciting times for mobile users across the globe.

The Galaxy S9 is capable of shooting video in super-slow motion and responds to different light levels.

The S9, which is the regular model, comes with a 5.8-inch screen, and while the more expensive S9, has a 6.3-inch screen. The phone bears a striking similarity to the S8 released a year ago, with the same dimensions and screen sizes.

Samsung focused on improvements in the camera, in particular a dual-aperture feature designed to allow better photos in low light.

The larger S9+ model, meanwhile, features a “dual-lens” configuration on the rear for better zoom capabilities.

The phones can also track facial movements to produce “augmented reality emoji” that mirror the user’s expressions.

The two new devices will be available for preview at authorized Samsung dealershops in Ghana, and those who pre-order online will get a free Samsung LED cover valued at GH250.

Actual stock of the new S9 and S9 plus will be available in Ghana by end of March.

Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, enjoyed record profits last year and strong sales of its handsets.

Speaking at the launch of the phones at the 2018 unpacked night held at the Fira de Barcelona, President and head of IT at Samsung, Don-Jin Koh said the phone had “re-imagined the camera”.

He said the new features were “designed to help users connect to others and express themselves in a way that’s unique and personal to them”.

The unpacked night, which has been a flagship event by Samsung yearly, precedes the start of the mobile world congress, and witnesses the launch of Samsung’s new product additions.

Speakers at the event took time to unveil the all new experience the S9 and S9 plus will bring to mobile phone users across the world.

Media General’s Alfred Ocansey who is in Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress reported that the leaks, hype, and interest have been soaked up by the next pair of Galaxy devices.
