The 13-member committee, headed by former Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, has toured the country met with grassroot supporters and investigated the cause of the opposition party’s worst electoral defeat.

Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho disclosed to Myjoyonline.com Friday, the much-anticipated report will be presented to the National Executive Council (NEC) at the party’s head office on Monday.

He is optimistic recommendations made by the committee will offer a further boost to efforts being made to grow the grassroot base of the NDC as well as re-energise long-standing members, who, owing to varied reasons, fell out with the party ahead of the elections.

“We believe that the unity that has characterised the celebration of our [NDC’s] 25th Anniversary celebrations and the founder’s [J. J Rawlings’] active participation, has re-energized the base of the party,” Koku said.

New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2016 presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo surprisingly secured a resounding one-touch victory by obtaining 53.85% of total valid votes cast against incumbent NDC Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama who managed 44.40%.

The party also outperformed the then governing National Democratic Congress in the parliamentary election by increasing its seats from 122 to 169 to form the majority, while the NDC saw its representation drop from a majority of 148 to 106.

But Koku Anyidoho said the leadership of the party is “looking at it [report] with a lot of optimism” because “we believe it will give a clear road map” that will give fresh vitality to the party.

“We have succeeded in mirroring our past and bringing back the old guards on board…We believe it will give us the energy to re-mobilize the grassroot,” the Deputy General Secretary envisioned.
