PPP debunks rumours -It seems the leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Pa Kwesi Nduom might eventually contest in the 2020 elections after all. The Party herself has debunked rumours that her leader will not contest in 2020 Presidential elections. These rumours which have been described as false are said to be political propaganda motivated by the party’s oppositions.

Dr Nduom last week Thursday on First News Network (FNN), a member of GN Media, spoke on a wide range of national issues including his come-back to lead the PPP in 2020 for the third time. But the PPP said there was nowhere during the programme that the business man said he will not lead the PPP in the 2020 election, describing the social media report as false.

You remember last year when Dr. Nduom reportedly declined from contesting in subsequent elections after 2016 era? it has turned out to be a hoax, as the party has come out to debunk the report. The earlier report had it that Dr. Nduom made the comment in an interview on his own media outlet.

But the PPP in a statement said that Pa Kwesi Nduom “rather bemoaned the usual attitude of Ghanaians in not paying attention to candidates who are into politics for the right reasons, but rather vote for politicians who will lie and promise heaven.” The PPP in a rejoinder stated categorically that Ndoum’s withdrawal reports are absolutely false.

PPP 2016 flag bearer and founder Pa Kwesi Nduom gained so much prominence in the media after he reportedly said that the 2016 elections would be his final attempt. The PPP leader was reported to have said that if his message of transformation and job creation were not enough to convince Ghanaians to vote him into power; he would take a step back in politics and focus on his businesses.

Furthermore, he had reportedly said that another reason behind his decision to quit was to give room for the younger ones in his party to lead.

Paa Nduom has failed in three presidential bids over the years. First was in 2008 where he was the flagbearer of the Conventions People Party (CPP). Having left the CPP to form his PPP in 2012, Nduom led the latter to place third in the Presidential polls that year.

Dr. Nduom’s third attempt was that of the 2016 elections where he has met with many oppositions as well as political squabbles with the Electoral Commission.
