Eight persons believed to be drug peddlers and behind crimes in Cape Coast and its catchment area, have been rounded up at Nstin, a “no go area” for Police and residents within the metropolis.
A total of 123 pieces of wrapped plant and quantity of seeds suspected to be narcotic drugs, 10 knives, 24 scissors, a hammer and television were retrieved from the suspected criminals in the Tuesday morning swoop.
They are Ekow Bentil, 18; Kweku Frimpong, 40; Kojo Mbiri, 18; Saeed Sam 25; Baliy Thomas, 18; Agbovie Mensah, 22, Emmanuel Amoah, 21 and Mustapha Mohammed, 53.
The Police are currently screening the suspects after which those found have committed crimes would be processed for court.
Ntsin is a suburb of Cape Coast and it is noted for all sorts of crimes in the metropolis but the Police say it would ensure that the place ceases to be known as a “no go area”.
The team of 100 personnel led by the Regional Commander, DCOP Amah Bennin, burnt some wooden structures which were being used by the suspected criminals “ghettos or hide outs”
DCOP Amah Bennin called on the Cape Coast metroplitan assembly to mount strategies to decongest Ntsin to remove some of the abandoned canoes which the criminals use as their place of abode.
