A Ghanaian philanthropist has started a campaign to repaint police stations, psychiatric hospitals and special schools across the country as his widow’s mite to giving those institutions facelift.
As a first step, Julius Atsu Yawlui, popularly known as Julius Mugabe, has repainted the offices of the Adentan-Abokobi Divisional Police Headquarters in Accra at the cost of GHC26,680.
The main Adenta Police station was also repainted at the cost of GHC7,680 plus the Adenta MTTD and DOVVSU offices also costing GHC19,000 under the campaign being spearheaded by the philanthropist.
The Adenta Mall Police station has been earmarked for the next exercise, Mr Yawlui, who is the Chief Executive of Jaymogabi Enterprise, told Onua FM Friday morning.
His company is a construction firm that is also engaged in painting, fumigation, waste management and property sales among others.
He explained that his decision to give these institutions facelift was influenced by President Akufo-Addo’s request to Ghanaians to support the country, saying “the President said we should do something to support the nation so his words touched my heart”
He said it was not his first philanthropic work, noting he has graded some roads in Accra. He added: “in fact, if I get support I will do more than what you are seeing”.
Mr Yawlui explained the decision to start from the Police is stemmed from the fact that the security of every nation is paramount to its development.
He has meanwhile called on all Ghanaians to support his efforts at restoring the infrastructural face of these critical institutions in the country.
“I am pleading with all the institution, non-governmental, all Black Star players, both home and abroad, to come to my aid to continue the good work I am doing because Ghana is the only country we have”.
