Private legal practitioner, Nana Obiri Boahen has stated that he will use the appropriate steps to establish which government indeed ordered for the 43 specialized vehicles worth more than $9 million barely eight days for the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) to leave office.

“I will take it upon myself to write to the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General for procedures that I will be going to court for clarification on whoever ordered for the customized armoured cars”, Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),Nana Obiri Boahen revealed.

“It is so bizarre that both present and past governments have denied being responsible for the importation of those cars during the transition period”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has accused the past administration of ordering for the vehicles eight days after handing over power to a new government; claims NDC minority in parliament have vehemently refuted.

According to a former presidential staffer and current incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Bulsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Clement Apaak, it was the incoming NPP government that made a request for the vehicles to be purchased.

But Nana Obiri Boahen has attacked such claims that sought to defend NDC members who were in the transitional side of the previous administration; describing the justification of the legislator “childish to believe”.

“It is funny hearing this from a whole doctor and a university law lecturer. You lost an election and incoming government tells you purchase cars and you oblige to it? Which country are we living? ….with all respect, you people do not have sense to say no to the purchase. I am not even sure NPP government will make such request while coming to take over”, he concluded.
