All residents will be required to stay indoors at exactly 10:00pm on Thursday, a statement signed by the Nungua Oblatai Mantse, Nii Okplen Jalesane II, under the authority of the Ga-Dangme State overlord, Gborbu Wulomo Shitse announced.

It mentioned Grader estates, Baatsonaa, Okpoi Gonno, Addo Gonno, Nungua township, Nungua estates, Spintex Road, Kotobaabi, Sakumono township and Sakumono estates and other as the affected areas.

The authorities warned, “It is a taboo and a sacrilege for an eye to see the performers of the rites,” hence urged all residents to respect the sanctity of the rites.

Again, there will be a ban on drumming and noise making in the affected areas effective Monday, June 26, the statement announced.

The one-week ban forms part of activities to pave the way for the preparation of the annual Kplejo festival of the chiefs and people of Nungua.

Traditional authorities would on Tuesday, June 27, perform the “Gbejee” to clear paths leading to various grooves in Nungua, the statement said.

Meanwhile the traditional authorities have asked the public to judiciously observe the customs to avoid any confrontation with the traditional authorities, the Ghana News Agency reported.

They have also appealed to the local council of churches to educate their members to observe the rules.

The statement warned that a taskforce would be formed with name tags to work in collaboration with the police to monitor activities and anyone found without identification should be reported to the office of the Gborbu Wulomo Shitse.
