Mr Korang, who is the KEEA Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), secured an overwhelming endorsement by polling 42 out of 42 votes cast, representing 100 per cent, to be the DCE.

In his acceptance speech, the new MCE expressed gratitude to the NPP as well as the KEEA Traditional Council and called for unity to build the municipality.

Speaking to 3news.com’s Kwame Kakarba after his confirmation, Mr Korang said once the selection process is over and having been duly elected he will be committed to ensuring that all the ambitious programmes of the government are executed in the municipality.

He stressed the need for sanitation in the area to be improved and called on the sanitary inspectors to go with him for a sanitary inspection.

He indicated that the journey to transform KEEA had just begun and that he would work hard to address the problems of the people, such as falling standards of education, joblessness and poverty.

Mr Kwamena Duncan, the Central Regional Minister, commended the assembly members for massively endorsing the President’s nominee and called on them to offer their support to the municipal chief executive (MCE).

He also charged the new MCE to be accountable to the people who gave him the mandate and the President who nominated him.

The Member of Parliament for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem, Samuel Atta Mills, called on all and sundry to be united behind the MCE as “we build a new KEEA and also pledge [my] commitment to work hard to bring the municipality to a deserving state”.
