Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul says Police report on the murder of Major Mahama is accurate insisting that there is no twist to the investigations conducted so far by the Police.

“The military High Command is not hiding anything, the Ministry is not hiding anything, and the family is not hiding anything. I just feel we should allow the Police to do their investigations, the Internal Board of Inquiry will do their investigations and the truth will come out. But for now let us celebrate Major Mahama and let us give him a befitting burial” Nitiwul said Tuesday.

There were new reports emerging that the late Soldier had been assigned to the Central region for a period of six months until his untimely death.

But the Defense Minister speaking on Ekosii Sen Show on Accra-based Asempa FM dismissed such claims saying the public must disregard the conflicting reports on the death of the Soldier put out there on some media platforms.

According to him, the first time the deceased was posted to the area[Denkyira-Boase] was on the 9th May 2017, where he stayed there for 20 days till the unfortunate incident happened.

“The first time the military was deployed to that particular area to go and help Canada and Ghana Alaska(C&G Alaska) was on 23rd December, 2016. They first sent Major Sulemana there, he’d to come and do some preparations towards his exams and he was replaced by Lieutenant Aidoo. He stayed for six weeks, then Lieutenant Sulemana came back to replace him. And then when finally he wanted to write the exams, the Military High Command asked then, Captain Adam Mahama to go on 9th May, 2017. So it’s not true he was there for three or two months.”

“That is why I said that we should be careful. There are a lot of investigations going on, and if we don’t get our facts right it will destroy the matter, we’ll lose the sympathy that we currently have, the Police will have problems investigating properly and off course the family will be disturbed.”
